Pegasus Laser Therapy

Equine Innovative Medicine is excited to offer our clients Pegasus Laser Therapy. Laser therapy provides a non-invasive, pain-free, surgery-free, drug-free treatment which is used to treat a variety of conditions. Laser Therapy is beneficial for almost any condition where inflammation or pain are present.

Applications for laser therapy include:

  • Treatment of arthritis and degenerative joint disease
  • Tendon and suspensory injuries such as tears, tendonitis and desmitis
  • Back disorders
  • Wound healing
  • Activating acupuncture points
  • Prevent re-injury

How does it work?

Laser Therapy stimulates the body to heal from within.  Non-thermal photons of light are absorbed by the injured cells.  The cells are then stimulated and respond with a higher rate of metabolism.  This results in relief or pain, increased circulation, reduced inflammation and an acceleration of the healing process.

Benefits of laser therapy

  • Pain relief
  • Drug- free treatment
  • Reduced inflammation
  • Shorter recovery times
  • Enhanced Athletic Performance

How are treatments given?

The laser light is delivered to the affected area through a noninvasive hand piece.  Many horses feel immediate relief, and are often calmed by the treatment. Treatment times vary from a few to many minutes depending upon the condition, the number of musculoskeletal structures involved, or the size of the area that must be treated.

What are the costs?

Treatment protocols are unique to each patient and the patient’s condition.  For some conditions, a single treatment may be all that is required.  For more chronic and difficult conditions, a series of treatments might be necessary to get the maximum benefit.
